Sunday's lovely weather made for perfect tree planting conditions! Thanks to an incredible group of volunteers, 250 native trees and shrubs were planted behind the visitor center and on the north side of Lake Joanis! Tamarack, white cedar, bigtooth aspen, willow, and more were added to the restoration sites.
A special thank you to the amazing volunteers who helped with the tree planting, including the UWSP Society for Ecological Restoration who also provided expertise with species recommendations for the sites! The project was generously supported by Silvertree, LLC and the Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve.
