Update on Moses Creek Meadows project

The Moses Creek Meadows trail project is moving forward! Moses Creek Meadows is a 33-acre natural area donated to the Friends in 2021. The Friends are currently fundraising to construct a trail, boardwalk, and viewing deck that will provide access to a pristine sedge meadow wetland, the headwaters of Moses Creek.

This past December, Ladick Trucking and Excavating completed the surfacing of crushed granite on a 0.4-mile reroute of the Green Circle Trail through the property. This was generously funded by Green Circle donations. The Friends of Schmeeckle also hired Ladick Trucking to surface a granite trail that leads from the Green Circle to the edge of a wetland. This summer, Friends volunteers plan to construct a boardwalk over the wetland to a forested island, a crushed granite trail on the island, and an elevated viewing deck that will provide an expansive view of the 160-acre sedge meadow wetland.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $40,000. Currently, the Friends have raised about $28,000. You can help us reach our goal! Click here to learn more about the project and how to give.
