After several months of hard work by our dedicated Friends volunteers, the accessible fishing pier on the south side of Lake Joanis is now officially open for use! The pier extends 70 feet into the lake offering beautiful views, access to deeper water for fishing, and an easy way to launch canoes and kayaks.
Our amazing Friends volunteers dedicated hundreds of hours to construct the railings, decking, and ramp. A special thank you to Mike Orella, Tom Mihm, Dick Steffensen, Bill Fisher, Erik Lacey, Ron Zimmerman, and Jerry Lineberger for their dedication in constructing the beautiful woodwork.
Another big thank you goes out to Prime W.A.T.E.R. Anglers for constructing and installing the sturdy metal frame and supports for the pier this past winter.
And finally, this community project would not have been possible without the support of our generous donors: The Worth Family (in memory of Bob Worth), the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin, Delta Dental of Wisconsin, the Koziol Family Fund, the Portage County Wildlife Fund, Alan Engebretson, Kent and Sue Hall, Sonja Kung (in memory of George Kung), and the Timothy L. Taschwer Trust.
