We are a month out from the Spring Candlelight Hike Festival! This biannual event brings thousands of visitors to Schmeeckle for an evening of themed activities and a chance to hike torchlit trails through the Reserve. May’s theme is Fantastic Critters and Where to Find Them. During the character program, meet wizards who need help throughout their quest from some of central Wisconsin’s magical animals.
The planning committee has been pouring over hike details to make sure this spring’s event is a huge success. And we can’t do it without you! We are still looking for volunteers to help with everything from prep to night-of activities to cleanup. If you are interested in volunteering, find volunteer opportunity descriptions and signups here!
For more information, visit friendsofschmeeckle.org/candlelight-hike-festivals/. There you will find suggestions for the best hike experience as well as volunteer information. For a sneak peek at the hike route, check out the map below.
The hike is Friday, May 2, from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. with character programs at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. Whether you join us as a volunteer or guest, we hope to see you there!
