Meadows residents caught on camera

by Chris Thompson

Hidden near Reserve boardwalks or the Friends property at Moses Creek Meadows trail cams record the secret lives of our nocturnal inhabitants.

Ever wonder what goes in Schmeeckle Reserve when us humans are not around?  What creatures may go un-noticed, or what they are up to?  Well, since 2021, the Friends of Schmeeckle Reserve has installed and monitored trail cameras within both the Reserve and the new Moses Creek Crossing parcels.  These cameras are moved periodically to various locations based on visitor reports or suspected animal activity in order for a better understanding of what creatures may be utilizing the lands of Schmeeckle Reserve and the Moses Creek Crossing.

Since 2021 the Friends cameras have investigated many possible wildlife sightings with highlights including a couple of coyote and a bobcat!  Hopefully, the Friends group will be able to get a better glimpse into what animals utilize the valuable greenspaces that Schmeeckle Reserve and Moses Creek Crossing provide.

Below are some the images from the fall of 2022, from the Moses Creek Crossing property, where the cameras are currently monitoring.
